Hi, I'm new to the community and wanted to pick up some advice. I'm new to photography and am just figuring everything out. I have a question about exposure and, if it matters, I'm using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel.

So, I decided that I wanted to learn how to shoot a performing band. Though popular and typical, I still really like the look of long exposure when photographing a band. Maybe other people here are into band photography, and could give me some general tips. If not, I'm sure my question could be answered anyways. I really love the way these look.

I know that a great camera cannot define skill, so I'm not expecting to acheive what I want immediately by just a few tips of advice. But, I was wondering if someone could tell me how I could do a clear, long exposure. Like, what settings are prime for what I am shooting (a fast, moving subject under colored lights). Also, can you change coloring with a camera or can you only do it in a editing program? I think I've heard you can change contrast and whatnot by the camera. Thank you so much, and I am sorry if these are silly questions.
xoxo
